Rap label Cash Money Records home to some of Hip Hop’s premiere acts, has a new branch called Cash Money Content, which is a publishing partnership with the Atria Books imprint of Simon & Schuster. To jump start their new venture, Ronald and Bryan “Birdman” Williams have acquired the rights to Robert Beck’s aka Iceberg Slim semi autobiographical book titled, Pimp and street literature favorite Wahida Clark’s Justify My Thug.
They plan to promote their titles using the same successful tactics that have made their Cash Money Records label famous. “You're going to see TV commercials, billboards, and plenty of YouTube videos featuring artists and writers talking about books … our books will also be sold at our concerts," Vernon Brown, the labels business manager said.
Marketing will include cross promote the label’s signed artist and authors who will appear at both book signings as well as concerts that will showcase celebrities, allowing for maximum exposure for their music and books.
They intend to publish at least six books per year. The first book Raw Law: An Urban Guide to Criminal Justice by attorney Muhammad Ibn Bashir is slated for release in February.
