In Tiphani Montgomery’s sophomore effort, Still a Mistress, readers are reunited with sisters Oshyn and Chloe. This installment begins right where the first novel ended and is just as action-packed and sexually-charged as part one.

The story starts with Chloe who, as usual, is still up to no good as she is still putting her conquests in compromising positions (literally). She continues to make everyone pay for her and her time, while still mourning the loss of her unborn child and Brooklyn, the man she felt was taken from her too soon. Ask Chloe and she will tell you the reason for all her misfortunes is her sister Oshyn.

Oshyn on the other hand is simply trying to pick up the pieces of her life and move past losing her best friend, husband, and son. Her painful pasts haunt her since the person responsible for this is no one other than her sister Chloe. Things start to return to normal for Oshyn, after her mom is released from jail and moves in with her. Together they care for her young son and raise Oshyn’s god-daughter. But just as soon as normalcy begins, Chloe wrecks havoc on her sisters life and Oshyn finds herself alone.

Still a Mistress was a great sequel. I couldn’t put this book down. The action and drama was painted vividly by the author; and left you mesmerized wanting to know what was going to happen next as well as rooting for the good guys and wanting the bad guys to pay.

This book had plenty of suspense with just enough sex and drama to keep a reader glued to the pages, anticipating the characters’ next move. Readers will not be disappointed with this book.

What did I like about the book?
I enjoyed the author’s gift of story telling; the plot of the sibling rivalry but also the implied message which let readers know that the measure of a person should be based on more than who looks best in a pair of skinny jeans.

What did I dislike about the book?
The action scenes, though they were good they weren’t realistic the characters took on super-human characteristics in some instances.

What could the author do to improve the book?
She could write more true to life action scenes. The author penned a great follow-up and has definitely created a following for herself with two great novels under her belt.
