At the onset of Karma 2 secrets between Money and Karma have forged a gap so wide that it threatens to destroy the couple's relationship. Instead of rejoicing over the birth of his son Mekhi, Money is still reeling from the discovery of Jimmy not only being the killer of Karma's mother but his father as well. Money won't rest until he finds Jimmy and finds out what caused him to cause the women in his life so much pain. Unwilling to share with Karma his relationship to Jimmy for fear that it would damage their relationship Money causes additional harm to their union with his obsession on locating Jimmy. Unbeknownst to Money confiding in Karma would have resolved the issue that was driving the couple apart because Karma was well aware of Jimmy's role in her mother's death and his whereabouts.

A last ditch attempt by Money to bring him and Karma back together again with physical intimacy goes awry. Once Karma confides the incident to her overprotective family members Money's life is jeopardized, forcing him away from Karma and Mekhi for what might be a more permanent basis. Throughout much of the novel Karma's love for Money kept her in limbo. It takes an unspeakable act by Money at the end of the novel to be the catalyst which finally allows Karma to move on and sever the relationship. Ironically the same traits that Karma despised in her mother, not being able to leave Jimmy's abuse behind, hinders her as well as Karma constantly went back and forth with her feelings for Money. Highlighting the strongest part of the novel how the cycle of being a victim of abuse can be passed along from generation to generation.

What did you like about the book?
I thought its exploration into abusive relationships was very useful especially the way in which the cycle is repeated within families.

What did you dislike about the book?
Some of the situations that the characters were placed in were a little too far fetched or convenient. I also found Money's character to be way too gullible especially since he was a police officer.

What could the author do to improve the book?
The book would have benefited from a little more realism in response to the situations that the characters were thrust into.
